NORTHEAST ALABAMA — Southern Torch Media is proud to be celebrating its sixth year as a media company. On August 26, 2013, Southern Torch began shining the spotlight on local news, sports and community events coverage in DeKalb County.
From its home office in Rainsville, Southern Torch launched as the first true new media news outlet in the area, quickly earning a reputation for providing the most reliable, comprehensive online news coverage in DeKalb County, combining quality reporting with cutting edge video production.
With the addition of a weekly print newspaper in May 2015, Southern Torch expanded its presence and continued providing coverage of news, community events, local government and sports for DeKalb County.
Published each Friday, the print edition offers local news with unbiased reporting and a commitment to established principles of community journalism.
In April of this year, Southern Torch Media expanded again with the purchase of two radio stations in Scottsboro: 98.3 Wild Country and 101.7 The Torch.
Featured programming includes the Joe & Jenna Sue morning show Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., the Wild Ride Home with Brian Anderson from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and complete coverage on-air and online of both Scottsboro Wildcat football and Fort Payne Wildcat football on Friday nights.
